Whenever I receive a virtual newsletter from a favorite company featuring the word “sale” in its subject line, they have my undivided attention. This was the case on July 1st when The Honest Kitchen sent out an email titled “Our biggest SALE of the year”. They weren’t kidding – they currently offer a whopping $10 in-store discount on all 7 and 10 lb boxes of their dehydrated foods.
They actually had $10 off coupons sitting next to THK products, so I would still have gotten my deal had I forgotten my printed coupon.
I decided to go with a 10 lb box of Revel (makes 40 lb of food), which is their dehydrated Chicken + veggies + organic whole grains recipe. It is one of their “budget” lines, i.e. the least expensive product they offer. A 10 lb box of Revel usually runs at $59 – after taxes and my $10 off coupon, I purchased the box for 54 bucks. #HappyDance
Why Feed The Honest Kitchen?
The Honest Kitchen is one of my go-to brands for convenient, healthy dog food that comes as close as possible to a species appropriate raw diet when I’m:
a) Running low on fresh raw food (which I was this week!)
b) Traveling with the pups and don’t want to haul along coolers with fresh raw food (which I will be next weekend so THK will be coming along on our trip)
c) Feeling like mixing up their raw diet a little (I buy their Base Mix every now & then and add it to Missy’s & Buzz’s raw meals. It doesn’t contain any meat but only dehydrated veggies & fruits)
Mentioned In My Healthy Dog Resources Section
I mention THK in my Healthy Dog Resources tab, where I list only brands I have used and am comfortable recommending to fellow doggie parents. All of THK’s products are dehydrated, meaning all that’s needed is scoop out the food, add water to it, let it sit for a few minutes, and then serve.
Have you gotten your paws on a sale lately? As always, we’d love to hear from you in our comment section!
