First things first – I’ve been feeding raw dog food since 2015 and got my raw dog food nutrition specialist certification from Dogs Naturally Magazine in early 2020!
I believe in the high quality of the raw dog food brands I recommend in this section of my blog. I’ve fed them all and still order from several of them.
If you’re new to the concept of feeding your dog a raw diet, I highly recommend you watch Dr. Karen Becker’s video about raw feeding.
You will feel confident about feeding your dog (and/or cat!) a raw food diet after having watched this incredibly informative video by Dr. Karen Becker, DVM – you’ll also feel confident facing your traditional veterinarian and explaining why you choose to feed raw; the health benefits are simply undeniable:
- Reduction of Cancer Risk
- Improved Digestion
- Improved Oral Health
- Improved Weight Management
- Reduction of Allergies
- Healthy Skin & Coat
Now without further ado, I recommend the following raw food brands because they’ve gained my trust over the years:
I started our raw dog food journey in 2015 with pre-made raw meals from Darwin’s because it doesn’t get any more convenient feeding a balanced, raw diet than with their pre-packaged raw meals with vegetables (BARF Diet).
The meals come in 2 pound packages (4 servings of 8 oz. each per package) featuring an EZ-peel opening, and are shipped with UPS.
Darwin’s offers the following lines of food:
- Premium Line “Natural Selections™” (free range meat with organic vegetables)
- Value Line “ZooLogics™” (conventional, human quality meat with conventionally grown vegetables)
- Prescription Line “Intelligent Design™” (specially formulated meals for dogs with certain health issues)
After 3 years on a raw meat diet and having being in remission from cancer, it found its way back into Missy’s body in early 2018.
She was on Darwin’s raw cancer support line for end of life support (one of the “Intelligent Design™” lines) as it came highly recommended by our homeopathic veterinarian Dr. Charles Loops.
Darwin’s protein selection consists of:
- Lamb, and
They also offer treats & bones (Beef Rib & Marrow Bones, Duck Necks, Green Tripe, Venison Jerky).
Darwin’s also offers a raw food line for cats (Premium Line “Natural Selections™”).
I’ve been shopping at Raw Feeding Miami since 2016 when I’m in need of some of the individual components for the pups’ raw meals, like muscle meat, raw meaty bones, and organs.
They have a large selection of different proteins:
- Emu, and
- Fish (Salmon, Mackerel, Green Lipped Mussels, Thread Herring, Snapper, Smelts)
They also offer some pre-made, complete meals (chicken, chicken/fish, beef), supplements, broths, bulk packs, recreational bones, and single-ingredient treats (dehydrated).
They ship their packages via FedEx Ground or UPS and have a 15 lb minimum order requirement.
What I like about them is their rewards program – you get a certain amount of points for every order placed that translates into $$$ which can be applied towards a future order.
You can use my Raw Feeding Miami referral link for 15% off your order!
I’ve been feeding Raw Paws Pet Food on and off since 2016, depending on what I can find on sale! They ship their raw meals in 1, 3 & 5 lb tubes and bags via FedEx. RPPF offers raw ground meat, ground combos (meat & bone mix), and ground complete meals (meat, bone, & organ mix).
Raw Paws Pet Food offers 3 raw diet types:
- Alpha-Prey Model
- Prey Model
All of their meats are USA raised, hormone- & antibiotic-free, and don’t contain any fillers or additives.
Raw Paws Pet Food protein selection consists of:
- Fish (Mackerel, Salmon, & Smelt)
- Lamb, and
Raw Paws Pet Food also offers:
- Meaty bones (necks, backs, feet, tails, frames, wings, leg quarters)
- Chews (bully sticks, ears, tracheas), and
- Treats (baked, dehydrated, freeze-dried, smoked, grilled)
Raw Paws also offers raw cat food, cat treats, and cat chews.
Please be aware of the fact that the raw food brands mentioned above only made it on this list of recommendations because I have ordered/actively order from them, have been very satisfied with their products, and Missy (R.I.P.), Buzz & Wally have done exceedingly well with everything I’ve ordered from them.
